Best PUBG Drop Locations Guide
Hot drop
Pochinki and Georgopol on Erangel. Fast gear, fast death.
Balanced
Rozhok and Novorepnoye. Real loot, survivable traffic.
Quiet
Gatka and Lipovka. Few buildings, almost no contest.
Your drop decides the first five minutes of the match, and most players pick it out of habit rather than intent. The useful way to choose is by what you want that opening to look like: a fight straight away, a controlled loot phase, or a quiet start you pay for with a longer rotation. Below are the named locations worth knowing, grouped by what they actually give you.
Erangel: the Reference Map
Erangel is 8x8 km and its drop personalities are the clearest in the game. Pochinki sits in the centre with dense buildings and guarantees contact. Georgopol on the north-west coast has containers and warehouses holding a lot of loot, but it funnels fights into narrow lanes. The Military Base on Sosnovka Island is the richest ground on the map and the hardest to leave, because the bridges are trivial to hold. Rozhok is the balanced pick: small, loot-dense and quick to clear. Novorepnoye on the south-east coast offers warehouses with less traffic. Gatka and Lipovka are the quiet option, with fewer buildings but very little competition for what spawns there.
| Location | Where | Loot | Traffic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pochinki | Centre | High, dense housing | Very high |
| Georgopol | North-west coast | High, containers and warehouses | High |
| Military Base | Sosnovka Island, south | Highest on the map | High, hard to exit |
| Yasnaya Polyana | East | High, large city block | Medium-high |
| Rozhok | Centre | Medium-high, quick to clear | Medium |
| Novorepnoye | South-east coast | Medium-high, warehouses | Medium |
| Gatka / Lipovka | Quiet outskirts | Low to medium | Very low |
Map Size Changes What "Safe" Means
On the 8x8 km maps — Erangel, Miramar, Taego and Deston — an edge drop costs a long rotation but buys a genuinely uncontested loot phase. On 6x6 km Vikendi the edges are closer, so the trade is milder. On 3x3 km Paramo there is effectively no quiet drop, which is why it rewards fast, quiet looting rather than clever landing. Karakin at 2x2 km is the extreme case: plan for contact rather than trying to avoid it.
| Map | Size | Effect on landing choice |
|---|---|---|
| Erangel | 8x8 km | Clear separation between hot, balanced and quiet |
| Miramar | 8x8 km | Long sightlines make open edge rotations costly |
| Taego | 8x8 km | Large compounds concentrate loot and traffic together |
| Deston | 8x8 km | Vertical city drops are dense; the coast is far calmer |
| Vikendi | 6x6 km | Edges reachable, so quiet drops cost less time |
| Sanhok | 4x4 km | Everything is close, expect contact wherever you land |
| Paramo | 3x3 km | No genuinely quiet drop, plan for early contact |
| Karakin | 2x2 km | Immediate contact is the default |
Drops Worth Knowing on the Newer Maps
On Taego the Palace compound in the centre-north and the Terminal in the east are the two big loot magnets, and both sit near Error Spaces. The coastal town of Ho San is the balanced option. On Deston the Concert Hall complex in the west and the Lodge resort near the coast are the strongest early landings, largely because they are less contested than the downtown core. On Vikendi the Castle in the centre and the Cement Factory in the industrial zone carry the most useful loot, with Dino Park in the north as a quieter alternative. All four maps have secret rooms, and the key spawn areas overlap heavily with these same compounds.
Hot Drops Are a Skill Choice, Not a Loot Choice
Landing in Pochinki is not really about gear, because you rarely finish looting before the first fight. It is a decision to practise close-quarters combat and accept a low survival rate for a high kill rate. That is a legitimate goal, but it should be deliberate. If your aim is to place well, hot drops work against you: the same twenty minutes spent on a balanced compound and a clean rotation gets you further.
Flight Path Beats Personal Preference
The most common mistake is picking a favourite location regardless of the plane. A quiet drop directly under the flight path stops being quiet. Read the line first, then take the best option roughly perpendicular to it. A mediocre compound off the path usually beats a great one under it.
Plan the Exit Before You Land
Decide how you leave before you jump. Where is the nearest vehicle likely to be? Which way is the centre? If the first circle lands badly, what is the fallback? Drops that look good on loot and terrible on rotation are the ones that quietly lose matches, and that gap is widest on the 8x8 km maps where a bad corner can cost the whole mid-game.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best drop location in PUBG?
It depends on your goal. For guaranteed fights, Pochinki on Erangel. For a balanced start with real loot and survivable traffic, Rozhok or Novorepnoye. For an uncontested loot phase you pay for with a long rotation, Gatka or Lipovka.
Where is the best loot on Erangel?
The Military Base on Sosnovka Island has the highest loot density on the map. The catch is the exit: the island connects by bridges that other squads hold easily, so a rich landing can become a trapped one.
Should beginners hot drop?
Not if the goal is better placements. Hot drops mean fighting before you are equipped, which teaches close combat but little about rotation, zone timing or positioning. A balanced compound gives you a full match to practise the parts that decide most placements.
Does map size change where I should land?
Considerably. On 8x8 km maps like Erangel and Deston an edge drop genuinely isolates you. On 3x3 km Paramo or 2x2 km Karakin no drop isolates you, so plan for early contact instead.
